Caramel Dumplings

(pic : donnahay)

Ingredients :

2 cups or 300 gr plain flour
quarter cups or 45 gr brown sugar
2 tsp baking powder
150 gr butter
half cup milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
double cream, to serve
Caramel Sauce
40 gr butter
1 and half cups or 265 gr brown sugar
2 and half cups or 625 ml water

How To Make :

1. Preheat the oven to 180 Celsius degrees. To make the caramel sauce, place the butter, sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium heat and bring to the boil. Remove from the heat and set aside.

2. Process the flour, sugar, baking powder, and butter in a food processor until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Gradually add the milk and vanilla with the motor running until a smooth dough forms. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and divide onto 7 equal portions.

3. Place the mixture in a 1 liter-capacity (4cup) ovenproof dish, pour over the caramel sauce and bake for 30 minutes or until cooked when tested with a skewer.

4. Serve the caramel dumplings with cream.
